In a tragic multi-vehicle accident near the Orange County/San Diego County border, two Oceanside motorcyclists were involved in a collision on Interstate 5, resulting in one fatality.
At approximately 9:20 a.m. Sunday, the 20-year-old rider of a black Yamaha motorcycle rear-ended a Honda CBR600, ridden by a 22-year-old. The fatal crash caused both riders to be thrown from their bikes.
Regrettably, the Yamaha rider was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene, while the other sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized. The California Highway Patrol stated that neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be factors.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the deceased rider’s identity. Both individuals were residents of Oceanside.
