In Henderson, a tragic two-vehicle crash on Friday resulted in the death of one person and left another injured. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the multi-vehicle accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 79, approximately four miles outside Henderson.
The driver of a Western Star truck tractor with a towed trailer was heading southwest, with 74-year-old James Pinkerton of Henderson following in a 2002 Toyota Echo. The report indicates that the truck driver executed a U-turn, with part of the trailer still in the southwest lane of U.S. 79. Pinkerton’s vehicle collided with the trailer, veered off the roadway, and struck a culvert.
Tragically, Pinkerton was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash. His passenger, 79-year-old Charles Hebert of Alvin, sustained injuries and was transported to UT Health Hospital in Henderson for treatment.
