Tragedy struck on Wednesday evening in Rancho Cordova as a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Sunrise Boulevard, according to Sacramento County sheriff’s officials.
The multi-vehicle incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Sunrise on the Highway 50 overpass. This was reported by Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
The motorcyclist was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene, with no immediate information available about their identity or the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
Multiple lanes on Sunrise Boulevard, a vital thoroughfare, were temporarily closed as authorities continued their investigation. The officials have not confirmed if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. There are no other details available at this time.
