A tragic multi-vehicle accident in west Phoenix claimed the life of a woman and left several others hospitalized, including two children, on Sunday morning. Emergency crews responded to the scene near 79th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road just before 4:30 a.m.
According to a Phoenix police spokesperson, a pickup truck carrying two adults and two children was traveling north on 79th Avenue when it disregarded the stop sign at Lower Buckeye Road, colliding with an eastbound car containing a man and a woman.
Despite paramedics’ efforts to treat the woman at the scene, she later succumbed to her injuries. The two children and three other individuals involved were transported to a hospital for treatment. The area remains closed off as police investigate the fatal crash. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
