A fatal collision on U.S. 79 North at FM 9 in Panola County claimed the life of an individual. The Panola County Sheriff’s Office reported the multi-vehicle accident on Thursday at approximately 4:16 p.m.
According to the officials, the collision involved a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle. Emergency response teams, including Panola County deputies, Precinct 2 Constable, Fire Marshal/Emergency Management, Texas Highway Patrol, UT Health, Caddo Parish EMS, and Community 4 and Intercommunity Volunteer Fire Departments, swiftly arrived at the scene.
One person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time. Texas Department of Transportation crews were also called to redirect traffic as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are underway.
