The Orange Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on a major street on Saturday. The accident occurred on Katella Avenue and Tustin Street at around 8:19 p.m.
According to the officials, a driver was found asleep in his car and was awoken by officers who were responding to calls. The driver then went west on Katella.
Between Cambrudge and Shaffer streets, the sedan went into oncoming traffic and crushed into a Toyota Tundra and a Honda Insight. The driver of the sedan was thrown out of the vehicle.
The driver had incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known at this time. The officials reported that this driver has a history of arrests for driving under the influence.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. There are no other details available at this time.
