The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in National City on Saturday. The accident occurred on Interstate 805 near the 43rd Street off-ramp in the National City area at around 9:08 a.m.
According to the officials, a small work truck with two men was headed south on the interstate when it crashed into a large commercial flatbed truck. The truck did not stop while the smaller truck went off the freeway into the right shoulder.
Both men in the smaller truck were ejected due to the force of the crash. They were critically injured. One of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was rushed to a trauma center for treatment. Their identities are not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. There are no other details available at this time.
