Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a reported wrong-way crash on the Gulf Freeway in League City early Saturday morning, according to authorities. The multi-vehicle accident unfolded around 3:21 a.m. in the 2900 block of the I-45 Gulf Freeway, where officers discovered a Toyota sedan engulfed in flames.
The male passenger of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver was transported to the hospital for treatment. The collision involved a Volkswagen sedan, and the female driver of that vehicle also died at the scene.
While initial reports suggested the Toyota was traveling the wrong way, police clarified that it was the Volkswagen that was going in the wrong direction. The investigation into this tragic fatal crash continues as authorities seek to understand the circumstances leading to the collision.
