A fatal crash on the northeast side of Harris County prompted road closures, urging drivers to seek alternative routes. The multi-vehicle accident occurred just before 4 p.m. along the Beltway 8 feeder road at North Lake Houston Parkway.
The officials confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the collision. According to witnesses, a silver Honda Civic disregarded a red light and was struck on the passenger side by an 18-wheeler with a green light.
The passenger of the car was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The Civic’s driver was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition.
The truck driver emerged unharmed. Authorities are investigating the collision. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
