The Garden Grove Police Department reported a three-vehicle collision on Friday.
The accident occurred at the Garden Grove Boulevard and Magnolia Street intersection just before 12.45 a.m.
The officials reported that a Tesla sedan was involved in the accident.
The Tesla was covered in flames when the officers arrived. The passenger of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of one of the other vehicles was also critically injured and taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Tesla was speeding prior to the crash and is to be arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
There are no other details available including descriptions of the other vehicles.
The police are searching for witnesses to the fatal accident.
