The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 near Flagstaff on December 29. The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-40 at milepost 207, about nine miles east of Flagstaff, around 1 a.m.
According to the officials, the incident was initiated when a sedan collided with a deer. This was almost immediately followed by a semi-truck that was hauling produce slamming into the car.
The man driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, and the truck driver was rushed to the hospital with head injuries. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
