The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident in Byron on December 30. The accident occurred on Byron Highway, near Byron Airport, around 6.30 p.m.

According to the officials, it is unclear what initiated the incident. There were four cars involved in the crash. Officials are investigating which car crossed the median on the two-lane highway.

Following the crash, two people were seriously injured, and one was pronounced dead on the scene. The two injured people were taken to the hospital, one by airlift and the other by ambulance. Officials noted that the person who died was not wearing their seatbelt correctly.

The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
