A tragic multiple-vehicle fatal crash occurred along Interstate 17 near Camp Verde on Monday evening, resulting in one fatality. The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that the multi-vehicle accident unfolded just after 5 p.m. in the left southbound lane near the Camp Verde exit (milepost 293).
Initially, a rear-end crash took place, prompting a third vehicle to stop and assist while controlling traffic. Shortly afterwards, a fourth vehicle collided with the stopped car, striking a pedestrian who was outside it.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not been disclosed, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported. It remains unclear whether charges will be filed against the driver responsible for striking the pedestrian.
