In a tragic multi-vehicle accident on Thursday morning, a motorist lost his life in a fatal crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Bel Air.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the collision at 4:42 a.m. They reported that a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle had rear-ended a big rig at the southbound 405 Freeway and North Mulholland Drive.
The male driver, as yet unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The impact caused the car to become lodged beneath the truck, despite the latter’s low speed.
It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
