On Saturday evening, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the San Diego (5) Freeway in the Barrio Logan area of San Diego.
According to the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash was reported at 8:21 p.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway at Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. The motorcycle and its rider were propelled to the center divider as a result of the crash, the CHP stated. A Sig alert was announced just after 9 p.m., closing down lanes 1 and 2 of the southbound San Diego Freeway at Cesar E. Chavez.
The circumstances that have led up to the wreck remain unknown at this time. It is also unclear if the crash involved any other vehicles. Authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
