The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in San Martin that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
Around 12:31 p.m., a pedestrian standing near his vehicle was hit by a 2017 International two-axle box truck. The truck had made an unsafe turn onto the right shoulder on Southbound Highway 101.
The pedestrian was shifted to San Jose Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and died. The 53-year-old truck driver was unharmed.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
