A tragic solo vehicle accident on Franklin Canyon Road in Martinez claimed the life of a man, authorities reported on Sunday. The California Highway Patrol’s Contra Costa division stated that a Honda Pilot traveling eastbound veered off the road and collided with a tree near McEwen Road.
The fatal crash occurred on Saturday around 9:28 am. Unfortunately, the adult male driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time, which is believed to have contributed to the fatal outcome.
Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene but tragically pronounced the driver dead upon arrival. The CHP Contra Costa division is continuing its investigation and has not yet released the deceased’s name. They urge any witnesses or individuals with information about the crash to come forward to assist in the investigation.
