According to the California Highway Patrol, at least one person was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Chula Vista on Saturday. The accident occurred on Interstate 5.
At around 3:02 a.m., a Black BMW SUV was driving at a high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. This caused the vehicle to ram into the right shoulder on the northbound freeway at E Street and flip over several times.
At least one person was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead. The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. The officials have not confirmed if there were others injured nor the extent of the injuries incurred.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
