The Riverside County Fire Department reported a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles in Coachella on Saturday. The collision resulted in the death of one person.

Roughly at 8:23 p.m., two vehicles were involved in a collision on Cesar Chavez Street at Avenue 50. The vehicles caught fire due to the force of the crash. The events leading up to this crash are not entirely clear at this time. One person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
