The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Vail on Sunday. The accident occurred on Interstate 10, in the westbound lanes at around 9:10 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. A passenger vehicle was headed east in the oncoming lane which caused it to crash into another car.
The driver of the first vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
