The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Tempe on Saturday night. The accident occurred on Loop 202 Red Mountain, near Scottsdale Road at around 9:30 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. One vehicle had stopped on the freeway due to another collision. The second vehicle crashed into the first one.
Two people were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. One of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
