Spokane Valley Deputies reported a motor vehicle accident on S. Evergreen Road near the Appleway Trail on January 12. The accident occurred on I-90 near Salnave Road at around 4.55 a.m.
According to the officials, the victim was an eastbound adult male bicyclist who sustained severe injuries after being struck by a northbound vehicle. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initial investigation suggests the rider may not have stopped before entering the roadway or activated the flashing pedestrian crossing signals to warn approaching motorists.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
