A tragic fatal crash on Saturday evening in San Marcos resulted in the death of a woman. This was after a collision involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 near the Aquarena Springs exit.
The San Marcos Police Department reported that the woman was believed to have been stowed away in the exterior of the truck. She attempted to disembark while the vehicle was stationary in traffic. Unfortunately, she slipped and was run over by the 18-wheeler as it began moving.
Despite life-saving efforts by emergency crews, the woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been travelling from the Rio Grande Valley into Central Texas. Her identity is not yet known at this time.
The motor vehicle accident is still being investigated at this time. An autopsy will be conducted by the Travis County Medical Examiner.
