In Riverside, a tragic accident claimed the life of one person and left another hospitalized. The motor vehicle accident occurred around 11:04 p.m. on Friday.
A 1998 Mercedes Benz was reportedly travelling at a high speed along Jefferson Street and Dufferin Avenue. The 19-year-old driver, a Riverside resident, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a fatal crash with a tree.
Both the driver and the passenger were rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where the passenger tragically succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver was not critically injured. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting an inquiry into the collision, including whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
