The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Rio Vista on Monday. The accident occurred on State Route 12, near Jackson Slough Road at around 8:10 a.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle was headed west on the highway when it lost control. This caused it to go off the road and into a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The driver was the only one present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
