The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Redwood City on Sunday morning. The accident occurred on Interstate 280 just before 3 a.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in the collision. A black car was headed south on the highway when it crashed into a concrete pillar. The force of the collision caused it to travel over a metal guardrail and come to rest in the southbound lanes.
A second vehicle came and crashed into the first vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
