The Orange Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Friday morning. The accident occurred at Chapman Avenue and Glassell Street at around 12:45 a.m.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. A Toyota Highlander was headed down the road at a high speed when the driver lost control. This caused the vehicle to crash into a light pole and a tree inside Plaza Park at Orange Circle.
The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The officials have reported that the victim was a 40-year-old man from Huntington Beach.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role.
