The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Oceanside on Sunday. The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at around 2:28 a.m.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. A Hyundai Sonata was headed north when it veered off the road to the right. This caused it to crash into a eucalyptus tree.
The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
