The National City Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Friday. The accident occurred on National City Boulevard at around midnight.
According to the officials, a southbound vehicle had driven past a patrol officer’s car at a high speed. This started a chase that ended when the speeding vehicle lost control and swerved off the road. The vehicle then slammed into a light pole.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle due to the force of the crash. This resulted in his incurring fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver has not been disclosed at the moment pending notification of the next of kin.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated at this time. There are no other details available.
