According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Merced on Monday. The crash happened southbound on 59 north of McNamara Road at around 6 a.m.
According to the firefighters, an unknown person and a 2007 Scion sedan were involved in the collision. The Scion driver was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed which caused the car to roll multiple times.
The officials stated that the unknown driver suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Merced Police Department did not reveal the identity and the name of the unknown deceased person.
According to the investigators, it is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the California Police.
