A fatal crash took place when a woman crashed into trees along the I-5 while attempting to evade officers. The incident began after reports of car break-ins in the 14500 block of 51st Avenue NE.
The suspects fled in a black Cadillac Escalade, and officers located the vehicle in a nearby driveway. Upon contact, the driver, a 32-year-old Everett woman accelerated toward officers at high speed.
The woman lost control of the vehicle and crashed. She was taken to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The Washington State Patrol is conducting an independent investigation into the collision, and the deceased will be identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
