A tragedy struck outside Apache Junction as a man was discovered dead in a vehicle that had crashed off an embankment along SR 88, approximately five miles northeast of Apache Junction.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported the finding just before 9:45 p.m., with the vehicle located about 150 feet below the roadway down the embankment. The victim, yet to be identified, raises questions about the timeline of the fatal crash and the circumstances leading to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
DPS is collaborating with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in the recovery efforts. The cause of the motor vehicle accident remains unknown.
