Candice Gearhart, a 50-year-old Longview woman, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter after a fatal crash on Friday night. The incident occurred around 11:44 p.m. in the 900 block of Pine Tree Road.
Gearhart, driving north in the outer lane, struck a pedestrian on a motorized scooter. The pedestrian was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the pedestrian has not been disclosed at this time.
Gearhart was found to be driving under the influence and was subsequently charged. She was booked into the Gregg County Jail and later posted a $25,000 bond.
No other injuries were reported. The Longview Police Department shared details of the motor vehicle accident in a Facebook post.
