A tragic incident unfolded in Laguna Beach on Saturday evening when a man riding a bicycle with his dog was struck by a vehicle. The motor vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Oak Street and Glenneyre Street shortly before 7 p.m.
The bicyclist was critically injured and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The small terrier in the bike’s front basket also sustained minor injuries but is expected to recover. The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the fatal crash.
