The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Kern County on Sunday morning. The accident occurred on Interstate 5. The time of the accident is not clear at this time.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. The vehicle was driving north on the interstate when the driver lost control. This resulted in the vehicle drifting off the road and into a parked car on the east shoulder.
The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were two people present in the parked vehicle who were also injured. They were taken to a hospital for treatment. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role.
