The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle accident in Katy on Monday night. The accident occurred at the 990 block of South Mason Road at around 10:30 p.m.
According to the officials, a bicycle and a vehicle were involved in the collision. A man was riding the bike in the far right-hand lane. He was hit by a passing car.
The bicyclist was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. The car involved in the collision fled the scene before the police could arrive. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. There are no other details available at this time.
