In a tragic incident, a motorist lost his life in a motor vehicle accident. His SUV crashed into a traffic signal pole in Irvine, subsequently catching fire. The Irvine Police Department reported the fatal crash at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, on Barranca Parkway near Alton Parkway.
Despite the valiant efforts of firefighters, the man succumbed to his fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, his identity is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
Initial investigations suggest that the man, driving a gold Ford Explorer, lost control of the vehicle while heading westbound on Barranca Parkway from Alton Parkway.
This led to a collision with the curb and a traffic signal pole, resulting in significant intrusion into the vehicle and subsequent ignition.
