According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Contra Costa County on Tuesday. The crash happened on westbound Highway 4 near Bailey Road at around 11:21 p.m.
According to the investigators, a blue GMC Envoy and an unknown vehicle were involved in the collision. The GMC driver hit the center divider, and hit a light pole and a tree along the right shoulder of the highway.
According to the reports, the GMC driver suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Contra Costa County Police Department did not reveal the identity and the name of the unknown deceased person.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
