The Los Angeles Sheriff’s County reported a motor vehicle accident in Compton on Thursday. The accident occurred in the 2200 block of East Rosecrans Avenue near North Harris Avenue at around 2:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a person and an SUV were involved in the collision. The SUV had been headed east on Rosecrans Avenue when it crashed into multiple objects, including a tree, a bus stop and a fire hydrant. A person was sleeping at the bus stop at the time of the crash.
The person was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The male driver was arrested while the female passenger was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time.
