The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle accident in Buckeye on Sunday. The accident occurred off Interstate 10, west of Hassayampa Road just after 1 a.m.
According to the officials, only one vehicle was involved in the crash. An off-road vehicle lost control and veered off the road. It was found at the bottom of the Hassayampa River which is currently dry. The events leading up to this are not entirely clear.
The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. There were two other passengers who incurred minor injuries.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
