The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle accident at the entrance of Benson on Wednesday. The accident occurred near milepost 290 and the timing is not known.
According to the officials, the collision involved only one vehicle. The events leading up to this crash are not yet known at this time. There were at least three people present in the vehicle.
One of the people present was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. The remaining two incurring serious but non-fatal injuries were treated.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before the police could arrive. He has been described as a person with a white or light complexion, thin, and between 6’ to 6’3”.
The fatal crash is still being investigated.
