The Pinal County Sheriff’s Department reported a motor vehicle accident in Arizona City on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred on Battaglia Drive near Yucatan Road between 5 and 5:40 a.m.
According to the officials, a bicycle and an SUV were involved in a collision. The events leading up to the crash are not clear at this time. The vehicle involved fled the scene before the police could arrive.
The bicyclist was critically injured and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
