A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a man on Wednesday night on Jackson Avenue in Memphis. Memphis Police responded to the hit-and-run accident near Jackson Avenue and Orchi Road just before 11 p.m.
Surveillance footage captured a dark-coloured pickup truck striking a pedestrian crossing the street and then fleeing westbound toward Townes Avenue without stopping. The victim was rushed to Regional One but was pronounced dead.
While it’s unclear if the driver was speeding, residents note the area’s hazardous conditions, with drivers often speeding over the hill and being caught off guard by the traffic light. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made yet.
