The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a hit-and-run accident on March 30 in Fresno. The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. when a 2015 Land Rover, travelling southbound on 41 to westbound 180, failed to negotiate the curb and veered off the roadway.
According to the authorities, the vehicle then collided with a person who was in an encampment along the roadway. The victim was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed at the moment. CHP noted that the driver of the Land Rover fled the scene on foot following the collision.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision. Additionally, it was raining at the time of the fatal crash, adding complexity to the investigation.
