1 Person Killed In A Hit-And-Run Crash In Austin (Austin, TX)

In downtown Austin early Tuesday morning, a hit-and-run incident involving a dark grey Mazda resulted in the death of one person and left another critically injured. Austin Police are actively searching for the driver who fled the scene after hitting the victims at East Seventh and Red River Streets around 1:10 a.m.

Witness Ben Klemens described the horrifying scene, mentioning that the driver was travelling at full speed and struck one person in the crosswalk, throwing them several feet into the air. The driver did not stop after the crash.

East Seventh Street was temporarily closed to traffic but reopened before 5 a.m. The incident occurred in an entertainment district hosting South by Southwest music events, including concerts happening in the area on Monday night. Authorities continue their investigation into this tragic hit-and-run incident.
