The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a hit-and-run crash on Friday. The accident occurred on Interstate 40 near the Texas/Oklahoma border at about 8:20 a.m.
According to the officials, a 2020 Volvo truck was heading west on the interstate when a tire on the back left side blew out. The driver pulled over and exited the vehicle to examine the tire when a second vehicle crashed into the truck and struck the driver.
The driver incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The authorities have only reported that the victim was a 54-year-old man from Sacramento.
The driver of the second vehicle was apprehended after having fled the scene.
It is not yet known if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There are no other details regarding this fatal accident available at this time.
