The Tyler Police Department is seeking public assistance in the investigation of a fatal pedestrian crash. The hit-and-run accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Haynie Avenue.
According to the officials, a pedestrian and a vehicle were involved in a collision. The pedestrian was struck in the roadway and was found to be critically injured. They were rushed to UT Health Hospital, where he succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the fatal crash. He was pronounced dead there.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. The driver fled the scene and is believed to be operating a maroon or burgundy GMC Yukon or Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with likely front-end damage. The investigation is ongoing.
