A tragic hit-and-run accident occurred in Porterville on Wednesday, Nov. 28, around 5:51 a.m., resulting in fatal injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a female pedestrian, on her way to work, was walking southbound across Avenue 8, west of Road 208.
At that moment, a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra pickup, travelling eastbound on Avenue 8, struck the pedestrian’s left front. The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time.
Regrettably, the driver fled the fatal crash in the eastbound direction. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old. The vehicle involved is identified as an extended cab or quad cab Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra.
CHP is actively seeking information to apprehend the responsible individual in this heartbreaking hit-and-run.
