In a tragic incident near Auburn on Tuesday, a pedestrian lost their life in a hit-and-run crash, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The fatal hit-and-run accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on southbound Highway 49, just north of Bell Road.
According to the officials, a vehicle and a pedestrian were involved in a collision. A dark-coloured sedan struck a person in the southbound lanes. The driver fled the scene following the collision. The victim was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim is not yet known. The vehicle is said to have front-end damage, and authorities seek information from the public to identify and locate the responsible party. The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
