A driver is in custody after two hit-and-run accidents just minutes apart, resulting in one fatality. Chandler police responded to a collision involving two vehicles near McQueen and Ocotillo roads around 7 a.m.
One driver fled on foot, but witnesses helped locate and apprehend them. Investigation revealed the same driver was involved in another crash moments earlier at Ocotillo Road and Chandler Paseo Trail. A pedestrian was hit and was fatally injured. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian’s identity is pending next-of-kin notification. The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. Eastbound traffic from Arizona Avenue to McQueen Road was temporarily closed for investigation but has since reopened.
